OK History buffs, I think I already know the answer to this, but here goes... What type (if any) lighting did Edward use for his still lifes? Window? Single incadecent bulb? monolights? hehe[/list]

Window or available outdoor light, I think, in general. Bear in mind that he made some very long exposures (sometimes 8 hours), and the light could change over time.

Weren't the Shells and the still lifes done on the back porch with a white sheet across the area as a screen? I seem to remember something like that.

Always natural light. Never artificial light. Same for portraits, at least beginning from the Mexico period (1923).

Yep. Natural. When you think about it, many of the images we see from that period were taken under conditions we would consider less than ideal now. Making them all the more amazing.
