Since there are some members of this forum that actually sell their work, either in galleries or directly, I have some questions about editions. First, do you make editions and typically how many? I know that different size prints qualify as a separate edition, how many sizes do you typically make, and do you make a different number of prints depending on the size? How many Artist Proofs do you typically make, too? And lastly, do you make all the prints in an edition at the same time.

I assume since the price of collectable prints typically increases as the edition sells out that prints are sold in numerical order.

For those who may collect or curate, at what point does the number of editions become a factor if at all?

Good Question.

I am now after years of exhibiting reducing the editions of 2 , with a printer proof for myself. I have done this as I only now make unique one off types of prints and I. have a huge inventory of images to print,
The edition refers to the image and does not allow for more editions ..

for example I will make a 14 x 18inch printer proof, in some cases I really think the image is great large so the edition 1 & 2 print will be 22 inch wide, but they both are part of my structure.
I use to do editions of 5 , so on some particular images I have to stay on this format.
I also escalate my prices each year as I sell more.
