What are alternative ways to sell other than ebay? Which are better and why?
Didn't ebay buy paypal several years ago?
Stuff that goes for bigger bucks on ebay won't get a glance here. However, some stuff posted here won't get a glance on Ebay.
It's as if people here generally know the value of photography equipment more than the general public.
Well, ultimately the value of something is what it sells at. I may not think that the Minolta /Leica AF-C1 is worth $250+. And I don't think anyone on this site does.
But if people are willing to pay that, then that is what it is worth.
Ebay clearly wishes to capture the fees formerly paid to PayPal. And I note that along with your bank account Ebay requires your credit card. If there's not enough funds in your bank to cover their fees, they charge them to your credit card. But at least with a credit card you can contest those charges.
What are the other fees, not previously mentioned?Unfortunately there are "other fees" besides the ones mentioned that may be charged to your bank or credit cards. The above information came from Ebay.

Okay, that makes sense... thanks for explaining. the word "fee" and "shipping" are not exactly the same to me and I understand that the transaction isn't complete until shipping is accounted for. Not an unusual accounting practice to me.The way it has worked for the few things I have sold recently is; After the sale, eBay pays me minus the selling fee. However, I buy the shipping through eBay since it is much cheaper. The eBay payout includes the amount for shipping. I then get debited for shipping costs. Or in one instance, I totally miscalculated shipping and got back charged a couple dollars. Freaked me out because I had no idea what the charge was for. Took me a bit to figure it out. Ultimately, it seems you are paying less in total fees this way. Though I have no way to verify.
