Does such thing really exist?

Personally I have lately chased a very evenly developed sheet film and what I have found is that I can get good results with Kodak's TMY2, TMX and Foma 200 with D-76 1+1, but Ilford's Fp4+ and Hp5+ will have always some problems and come out with uneven skies.

This could be caused by developer exhaustion - perhaps those films just uses more developer? I use typically something like 200-250ml of stock developer for 4 sheet of 4x5 film.
Or could it just be so that some films doesn't work so well with some developers - like in this case Fp4+ and D-76?

What kind of experiences do you have? Some bullet and foolproof developers and some very difficult ones?

200-250ml is about right per sheet of 4x5. Use more solution.

I'm a bit confused. Usagi talks about using 200-250ml STOCK solution for 4 sheets and Jim tells us he should be using about 250ml per sheet.

Jim, does this mean that when I dilute D76 at 1:3 I should be allowing a litre of chemical per sheet? This doesn't seem right.

Hi,

I use slosher for developing and use 1+1 dilution of D-76, total 500ml for four sheets. Yes, the agatation can cause uneven development but then why TMX,TMY and Foma200 come out 'perfectly' even when Hp5+ and Fp4+ does not?
