Early Leitz Focomat I

Hi,

I've just picked up a very early model Focomat I (not the Ic); I need to replace the power cord on the baseboard and am curious if anyone owns and uses this particular model, and if anyone has replaced a power cord. For its age it is in pretty nice condition, no chips, dents, rusting, ect. The lens is a Varob 1:3,5 but I would like to use a modern Leitz lens with it instead. Any suggestions? I think I need to research lenses as well...it does have the original negative holder, but I am not sure about the anti-Newton ring? I'm doing my best learning about this particular enlarger using the the manual for the Ic, if anyone knows anything about this model I would really appreciate and advice and tips. Thanks!

If it's like the lc the AN glass is a slip fit onto the bottom of the condenser & will sit directly on top of the negative when the lamp housing is lowered.
RE: power cord, I've replace cords on old equipment in the past no problems.

Thanks, as far as I can determine (with lots of research), is that the Ia wasn't outfitted with the AN glass, if I have the wrong information, please correct me! The main difference between the Ia and the Ic (aside from the AN glass and the lens) is that the housing itself is attached, as in not able to be tipped back to better, and easily insert the negative carrier. In any case, I've managed to replace the old cord without any problem; I've got a new bulb in there (a very, very, very, old one was still attached) and the machine runs!
