Had to shoot some Provia 100f at 400 yesterday, that means it's time to get to know pushing in E-6.

With APUG down for a while I googled and found two suggestions as follows.

Add 2 minutes for 1 stop and 5 minutes for 2 (9 and 12 respectively)

Another suggested a 36% bump in time for each stop so, 9:30, 13, and 17:30.

I didn't find any numbers on APUG via search so I figured I'd ask.

Are these any where close?

Get out your MacBeth chart and shoot a few frames on it with 1, 2, 3, 4 stops under ASA 100. Hopefully you are processing the film yourself, so you can develop some tests to see just how far off you will be when you process your good film.

I have pushed Provia 400 quite successfully, albeit years back, for frames taken of astronomical sources (comets, etc.). Because I use scratch-mix chemistry I found that I could vary the Metol-HQ-Phenidone ratio to yield higher contrast and better low-light level results. So I suggest you process some test strips using the 8-minute first developer and then the 11 or 12 minute time. You are not likely to benefit by trying to go farther than 12 minutes, but you might well benefit by modifying the first developer formula.

Be sure to post your results!

Hi mts,

I am processing myself, it's 4x5 sheet film and I shot two sheets exposed the same, of the one shot I want.

Had not thought of cutting the test film into strips, I'll do that for sure.

I only have 25 sheets of Provia left and want to use some of them for real pictures, after that I'm off to Portra.

I'm using the Kodak 1-shot kit so 6-7 minutes was the recommended standard time.

I was simply hoping to get times that were relatively close to fine tune.

2 minutes added for 1 stop and 5 for two is correct. The E-6 Z-manual is available on Kodaks web site and has all info you would need.
