Hi all, has anyone tried contacting DW Foto lately for any kind of purchase or repair ? They have not answered different emails sent weeks ago and they do not seem to answer to their phones either (tried a few different numbers found on their website). I love their products, but they seem not to have learnt from the past that good products without good communication / customer service (including sales) do not last long..

Have you tried sending Eric at Rolleiflex USA a message? I have had spotty luck communicating with DW Foto, they sometimes reply quickly to an inquiry and then I never hear back again.

They eventually answered. From what I understand they are having problems getting supplies, hence some of their products are currently out of stock.

I thought they were living on old stocks of parts.

I’ve got a zero response rate myself. My reasoning is that they were used to dealing with distributors and are not equipped to go direct.

Hardly, as they as their predeccessor explicitely offer repair service directly to Rollei camera owners.

Maybe they just do not need more business...

I doubt they don't need business. New Hy6 equipment is hard to come by. I suspect there is a more serious problem with the company.

How hard is the 6000 series to repair for a general photo repairman in case we lose them? I saw a picture of the inside of the camera, maybe the trickiest part is the electronic board and the shutter in the lenses.

Rolleiflex USA shows everything is in stock. In my experience dealing with Eric, the website availability is actually conservative, i.e. "out of stock" items actually can be available, not the other way around.

Mr. Daus has been more responsive lately. How much was a full hy6 mod1 to mod2 upgrade when it first was released?

It is more a question of the availability of parts. I have a Hy6 film back and inserts with Dave at Key Camera for months now waiting for parts. The factory is pretty unresponsive about whne they might be coming. Laflex camera stopped repairing the 6000 cameras a year or so ago because he could no longer get parts. There are electronics in the camera body an lenses, too.

Hi All,
I received a box of items from the factory just last Friday and that included a Hy6 Mod2 that I sent in for service so they are indeed still open. I have heard a lot lately from people who contacted them by phone or e-mail and didn't get a reply, and to be perfectly honest even I as their dealer don't always get a reply to every message. I know of several people who have still their old websites bookmarked (DHW-Fototechnik and even Franke und Heidecke are still active but the contacts don't work) and have been confused about that - Please use https://www.dw-photo.eu/ which has contacts on the service page, etc. I think that many of the employee's are only coming in part time now and only really Rolf and Katharina answer calls and e-mails so they may be overwhelmed. I may as well say that I don't always answer my own business phone - maybe only 1 out of 10 calls now is a real person and the rest are spam calls asking if I want to extend my car warranty, take a business capital loan, or get help with my website. If you call me always leave a message and I will call back, but I prefer e-mail.

They are definitely open for service, but some of their products are not currently available pending parts.

Pieter, I just got in some parts from the factory to send to Key Camera Service which might include the piece he's been waiting on for your job. ( FYI - I try to get parts for technicians I work with, but don't do parts for individuals)

Piero, there are a number of technicians who know the 6000 cameras well including of course the factory, Paepke, Wiesse in Germany but also in the US Key Camera and several others. Most of them have parts, and donor cameras, but the factory also had a pretty good stock of parts for 6000 last time I was there in 2018. I am not concerned about service for 6000 series cameras at the moment. Same for TLR's but I hear the supply of main shutter springs is running low (these springs also fit some Hasselblad V lenses and large format lenses).

Thanks, Eric. I will be near Longmont next month, I hope Dave will have had time to make the repairs by then. Fingers crossed!

Yes it's been a saga with my Hy6 and they're very hard to get a hold of. I think there's simply not enough demand to keep the repair shop/company functioning in a way that would facilitate efficient responses/customer care.

I would imagine the opposite. that they are severly understaffed and cannot handle the demand, either for service, parts or new cameras.

Well, you both then have it about them being understaffed, though for opposing reasons.
