Anyone with experience of this light advertised in e-bay? Given the price of sodium lamps for my DUKA I want to conserve its life by using a B&W safelight but maybe one which can also deal with colour(RA4) if required, should the DUKA stop working.

The Safil has a 40W lamp but has a heat filter and a turret arrangement which allows you to have white, orange, bright red, olive green and orange brown(as stated in the seller's description). 40W seems a very powerful lamp but presumably the filters are thick enough to cope and the heat filter stops overheating.

It is used and my worry is that over time filters fade but maybe the heat filter prevents this happening.

The cheaper alternative is one of the many Paterson and similar lamps you see on e-bay. I have a Durst Tricolor but I noticed on setting it up that the red/amber filter seems to be fading in a spot in the middle and suspect it will now fog. The green filter lis OK( I have never used it) but the light is poor and anyway will this be OK for Ilford Multigrade RC?What was green for?

Any help at all and especially on the Durst Safil will be appreciated. I have just over a day left before the bidding closes.

Thanks
