Durst Printo Repair & Disassembly

Hello all!

Does anyone have any experience replacing broken gears on a Durst Printo processor? I found a 3d model of the broken gear online and have had replacement parts printed.

However, I do not know where to begin with disassembling the machine. Is there a way to isolate one roller without taking th whole thing apart?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I take it you want to replace the small gear with the broken tooth.

It looks like it is a press fit to the shaft. You should (should - that's a word with a lot of latitude) be able to pull it off the shaft and press the new one on.

The large gear below it with the worn teeth should come off after removing the C-clip. It can be a good idea to have some silly-putty, duct tape or even just a towel on the C-side of the clip to keep it from flying across the room when you remove it.

I have a Durst Printo machine, I wish mine looked as nice as yours! The simplicity of the machine is a great feature, no pumps and the simple gear train runs everything except the heaters. Mine came completely locked up as the previous owner let all the chemistry dry in the machine. IIRC, Nicholas is correct, the small missing teeth gear is a press fit. The circlip retains the other larger gear which I hope you are replacing as well. Before you fire it up you will want to know what caused the original failure- the shouldn’t be a lot of force required to run it all. Run it by hand to be sure it is turning properly. I had to completely disassemble mine to clean it. It took a fair amount of dexterity to reassemble it. One thing to be especially careful of are the hard rubber rollers that move the paper and squeegee between baths. They get stuck together when stored and can lock up the machine. I was lucky to separate mine with no damage. Good luck, when they work they are great machines and take less space than trays.

I did replaced a broken gears, many time, and I have some original spare parts, the one you need, also, few of them. As someone said above is a press fit to the shaft easy to remove.
You dont need to remove the bigger gear, the one wit C-clip, just care about the smaller. Disassembler the whole gear block is a nightmare, dont' do it.
To repair the processor, back in the day, they should have a template to keep all the pieces straight.

The big sprocket wheel has itself not got a tooth missing, but got severe teeth damage, due to that missing tooth, by this it will wear out the 3rd wheel...
