Hey all,

I have an issue regarding my Durst Optimo AC enlarger with Opto-ECU unit. The Opto-ECU unit reads "Durst Optimo AC setup Version MA.47.30.T/MA.47.32.R" without any change. The enlarger head moves slightly (it is located at the top of the rail), but only does upon startup. The ECU unit appears to be frozen as it does not change from the previously mentioned text, and I cannot push any buttons. Has anyone else had a similar issue?

Yes,

It had been working. I was just about to create a print and then the system froze up.

I have a faint memory that a few weeks ago we had a thread on a similar case involving a Durst horizontal enlarger.

Old electronics acting up. It may be something as simple as some capacitors being degraded, which is a relatively easy fix. But it may also be more complex and difficult to troubleshoot without a schematic, a scope and a DMM - and the necessary knowledge of electronics. Without a schematic you're pretty much in the dark with this kind of equipment.

Well, a AMM would work too...
Sure, but dmm's are more common today. However for some parts if these circuits a scope can be quite essential; durst is known to use analog oscillator circuits for eg driving stepper motors. You want to be able to visualize the oscillator behavior if there's a suspected problem with those.

Interesting, but my DMM cannot visual oscillator behaviour either.

1: that's why I said a scope is essential in some cases.
2: I've got a Chinese DMM with a very basic scope functionality that has at least some use, although it's by far not up to the standards of a decent scope.
