Durst M670 question about negative carrier masks (SIXMA/SIVOPAR

Hi,
What is the difference in these two masks SIXMA and SIVOPAR?
And will they work correctly with a Sinoneg carrier

I have a M670 that is set up for 35mm (currenty has Sivoma 35 mask on bottom and AN glass on top) and I'm trying to under stand what the mask names mean so I can buy the correct thing for 2 1/4
I would like to set it up for both AN glass top and the two mask glassless arrangement but the names are throwing me.

Hello!

The SIVOMA should be on the top side, and the SIXMA should be on the bottom side.
At least mine where in that configuration when i bought mine.

Regarding the AN glass, am not sure that you can fit the AN glass and the mask on the same side of the carrier or at least i haven't found a way to do it yet.

Thank you for the help.
I was not sure if SIVOMA and SIXMA were two different names for the same thing. So i have not know what exactly what i was looking for. I thought perhaps I needed a pair of two SIVOMAs or a pair of SIXMAs to make a neg carrier, but it sounds like they must be physically different, one for the top and the other for the bottom.

Hi Robert,

Yes. They are. If you put them in the carrier and look from the top you will see that the SIXMA is a little bit smaller then the SIVOMA.
By the way, the carrier has four sliders which controls four blades on its downside. I haven't tested this yet, but i think you can use them to frame your negative if you install AN glass in both sides of the carrier or if you are missing the SIXMA part.
Unfortunately without an instruction manual this is just guessing from my side.

In most cases, these sort of adjustable blades are there not to frame the image, but rather to reduce flare. They would need to be at the exact same plane as the negative to give you a clean edged cropping frame.
They are still useful - limiting flare is a good thing - but your easel is better at giving you a clean edge.

AN glass always goes just on the top. NEVER on the bottom.This picture is from M605 manual.

Thanks for pointing that out! I was miss leaded by the two types of AN glass that i have, but after your comment i have reviewed their description and yes you are correct the AN glass is only for the upper part of this carrier.
Apparently the guy who sold me my Durst AC707 included AN glass for another negative carrier type which can have glass on both sides.
