Hi all,

I just got a Durst M605 with M605 Color Head from a friend who bought it on ebay but never used it. It came without a lamp, but my friend bought a 12v 100watt lamp for it.

Anyhow, the lead from the head is wired to a mains plug!. I have a transformer which is a Durst TRA 305N which has no plug to plug into it (ie into the transformer itself). I suspect that the plug which went into the transformer was cut off and a main plug attached. I might be able to get a replacement lead... I hope

Questions
- Is the TRA 305N the transformer for the Color Head ? I see references in the M605 enlarger manual to a Colitra 35 transformer, so was wondering if I even had the correct transformer?

- Why would anyone go direct to the mains ?

- Is it possible (I've search to no avail) to get a 220V 100w lamp?

Sorry for all the questions... any answers much appreciated !

So long as the transformer has a 12v 100va output it should be ok. I am not sure but I think Durst may have used several different types of plug at different times so finding the right one could be a problem.

AudioSpares http://www.audiospares.com/home.php?cat=2 sell a number of different connectors and if you can not find the right one then you could replace the female connector on the transformer case and get a matching male connector to go on the lead from the lamp.

My transformer for my M605 is certainly the TRA305N so you would seem to have the right one. The wire from the enlarger as you will have seen is meant to go into the transformer via a three pronged flat square looking plug which has two round prongs on top and a flat vertical prong in the middle, fitting into a female end in the transformer. From the other side of the transformer there should be a wire coming out which goes into the mains.

If this 3 prong plug( 2 round and 1 flat as described above) is missing then it may be a plug which is available from audio repair stores such as the one mentioned or the equivalent in the Republic.

If it is peculiar to Durst then there is a website called Northern Photo Electronic services in the N of England which has spares for Durst enlargers and is said to be pretty good.

Nova Darkroom used to keep a range of small Durst enlarger parts as well but not listed on its website. You'd need to phone them and ask for its secondhand expert. He was someone called Bruce.

For what it is worth all my plug has on it is the number 2400.
