No takers...,

well, admitted, it is a beast, I preferred pick up in Little Rhodie, and I didn't price it, what else to expect...?

How about $300, and I can deliver it 50 miles from Providence? Any other shipping arrangements will have to be covered by the buyer. I think I can throw in a lens or two as well (nothing fancy though), and if my memory serves me right, I *may* have one of those lens plates suitable for a 50mm laying around somewhere, that *if* I find it can accompany the kit.

How about it?

/Jorgen.

I wish I lived in Rhode Island because I know that you couldn't ship me this thing and I don't think that Adam is up for that long of a road trip. Heh.

I could ship it, but in pieces, and at cost. Who is Adam?

Husband. He humors me with this whole photography thing, but I think that coming from Iowa to pick it up would be going a little too far.

Shipping is probably way too cost prohibitive. Whoever does buy it, though, is getting a really good deal.

Zeb, put it on Craigslist. The 138S is a great enlarger and will fetch you more than $300 with patience. Especially as you have a good set of Laticos and the Nega. I sold one last year and parted with it most begrudgingly.

Ahh, DH. I admit that I am a bit jaded when it comes to road trips in search for darkroom equipment; a couple of months after 9/11 I went to Montreal to pick up a Durst Laborator 1200. Only my wife and infant daughter prevented the US customs to pick the car apart...

Craigslist, why didn't I think of that!

...not to mention men with rubber gloves... "Sir, what kind of contraption is that that is protruding between the front seats?" A close call.

I will eventually give Craigslist a try as well, in the meantime the offer above stands. Also, 3% of the price will go to APUG.

Zeb you are offering a superb deal to someone. You should have no problem selling it as long as the right person sees that it's for sale. I would take it in a millisecond if it was in or near Florida. The Craigslist might help you but I would put some effort into listing it on many photo websites like APUG, Photonet and other places. Check out large format websites and look at links they offer, they may lead you to a direct audience that would have high interest in it. I know there is an outfit that buys, restores and converts all sorts of Durst lab equipment. I have alink to them somewhere and I'll try and find it for you. I would assume they would have a lot of interest in it. Nice gear, too bad you are so far away.

John,

Thanks for the tips, Photonet will be another venue for me to look into. It is quite a nice setup, complete and working to boot. Is Florida really that far away from Providence... ;-)

I assume that's with the condenser head?

The 138S is a wonderful enlarger. It disassembles into sections easily stashed in a sedan. I carried two 138Ss in one trip from the far side of Detroit to same in Cleveland (3.5 hours) in the back of a Toyota Highlander SUV. Peter Spangenberg drove Cleveland-VT or NH to get his in a sedan. It is worth the trip. GREAT enlarger. The manual is available free from Jensen online.

No personal connection. Haven't seen the condition of this enlarger.

Zouwee,

Yes, it is the condenser head variety, and it comes with a full set of condensers in really fine condition; 85/130/160/200 and 240, all in the grey casing. And yes, you can disassemble it, although I have never done so. I think the enlarger head is spring-loaded, and care has to be taken so you don't end up with a hole in your head where no hole should be.

Zeb ...

Maybe you can sell to Durst Pro USA in Oregon. Now named Jensen Optical.

Good luck
