Durst Laborator 1200 CLS 501

Hello!

Can anyone give me advice regarding this enlarger??
It comes with the dedicated timer - programmable - none of which I'm familiar with. It has all the mixing boxes etc, so no problems there.
I'm pretty sure these are auto-focus, or have the option anyhow.

I will be using this for black and white printing only.

So any opinoins, advice would be appreciated.

You can't go wrong with it! One of the best enlargers. I own one which I'll use eventually to enlarge 4x5 negatives. Very sturdy. Right now I'm using Durst M707 Color for split grade printing and found a bit annoying turning the color filters over and over again from min to max and back in order to use the yellow and magenta filters in their maximum. This will be a problem with the CLS head too. I have some plans to replace it with a white LED source and use two filters, blew and green, below the lens. Except that, this is wonderful machine.

I use this enlarger, although mine doesn't have a dedicated timer. It is a fantastic piece of equipment, very sturdy and accurate. I bought mine from a lab that went out of business. I put it in the back of my car fully assembled, with a lot of padding, and with some help carried it to my darkroom. When I got it set up I checked its alignment with a Versalab laser device and it was perfect, it didn't need any adjustment. I use it with formats from 35mm to 4x5 and am very happy.

Not sure which one you have there - there were several versions with different extras. Mine is an earlier AC1200 with the colour analyser/timer but not autofocus. As said, they are of high quality, intended for use in pro labs. If yours is the same control unit as mine, for B&W you just switch the control unit to TIME (you can use the analyser for b&w but I never bothered to find out how as I normally use the split-grade printing method).

I just acquired a 1200 CLS 501 and I have a slight problem. My Durst is fully motorized. I also have the Ilford MTG 500cpm. The problem is that there is only one female input on the MTG 500CPM and two cords that are 8 male prong each. So i think there is a cord missing or the former user had a adapter for it. In any case I am looking for a solution to my issue. Is your set up the same when it comes to your cords? Can anyone give me a clue on how to resolve this issue?
