i made this conversion for a photrio friend in Asia.
he has a std. 184L condensator model and blew his last incandescent bulb.
my replacement is made with 53 pcs white 3 W led bulbs, double transformers on 85 - 265 Volt.
emitted light is around 22 000 LUX or EV 14 , metered at a distance of 1 meter with a Gossen Profisix.
that is a lot of light!
the dimensions:
27,5 X 29,5 X 19,0 CM. ( height incl handles )

i have the material to make another conversion in case anyone should need one.
kindly

Blew his last incandescent bulb? I know my bulb will blow someday, which is why I built a LED head. Two questions:

1. Have you checked the uniformity of light coming out of the diffuser? Others have discovered that light will be uniform when the LEDs are placed around the perimeter on top, avoiding the middle area.
2. 3*53 = 159 watts. LEDs are about 50% efficient, so that will be about 80 watts of heat. Does your design use a fan or large heat-sink to remove the heat?

Anyway, your LED head is beautifully made. Congratulations on the good job.

looks very interesting. would it be possible to
A) put the handles on one side so it can be fitted into the condensor housing like the Lacoli head?

edit: it's a neat idea to replace the full lamp/condensor assembly with this one, so you can save height in low ceiling rooms

B) make it an RGB led head ?
I can provide exact measurements of the housing if needed. thanks

hi mark
yes i have checked .
the leds are placed uniformly on the heat absorbing plate plus extra light in 4 corners.
i use the best available diffuser i can get . it is mounted 15 cm under the leds. i found that if this distance is too short, the problems occurs.
i had one unit, of the types i use for Durst 138S and Besler 45x.., running for one week without problems.
15 min off and 15 min on , it only gets hand warm.
my kits are tested this way for 24 hours.

hi bardamu, how are you ?
placing the handles on the side is no problem. as i mention above the distance could be !,
i might place the leds in a different pattern, as mentioned by albade / mark in above post.
i have never had the need for RGB light head, so --
if you want me to look into replacing the Lacoli send PM with dimensions and i will see what i can do.
