Hi All -

I'm a dedicated B&W guy looking for a solid diffused light machine and I came across a Durst 138 with all of the following:CLS301 color head, 180mm, 105mm, 210mm lenses, Durst Lafan N Power Supply/Stabilizer, Gralab 525 timer, Durst Latibox 69, extra latibox (condenser) in box, cooling fan, tubes, extra lamp housing, and footswitch
That being said, what else would I need to start printing 35mm, 120 and 4x5 besides my 50mm and 80mm lenses? Will I need unique lens boards, negative carriers, and unknown ungodly expensive stuff for each format and if so, is it even getable?

I would greatly appreciate any info you could share or resources you could point me too.

Thanks in advance

Victor

The negative carrier on this enlarger should be a glass carrier. At least mine are. This negative carrier does have masking for smaller formats built into the carrier. I print 4X5 on mine all of the time.

As a side note, if you ever want to go to enlarging 8X10...Michael Mutmansky has converted one of these 138 enlargers to an 8X10 enlarger. Quite simple to do with the addition of an Aristo 8X10 cold light head, a negative carrier, and suitable lens. The negative stage of this enlarger has enough metal to allow opening it to 8X10 format.

The 105 lens will handle your medium format...the only thing that you will need if you want is a 50 mm lens for 35 mm. Good luck.

You'll need a sunken lensboard for the shortest lenses. A 50mm just can't be focused without!

I've got a CLS301 too, but no power supply for it. They seem impossible to find...

On the other hand, I've got a spare nega138 negative holder, and another one for MF (6x6 and down) that I don't use since I also have a MF enlarger
