Durst 138 + Latub + 40mm lens?

I always seem to have weirdly specific questions for APUG. Here's one more!

Can anyone confirm if the Latub recessed lens board is deep enough for a 40mm lens to focus properly on a Durst 138?

I was thinking of buying a Schneider Apo 40mm but wasn't sure if it was going to work with this setup.

I think the Apo Componon HM 45 will. It focuses on my L1840 with the Laratub.

Is there some reason you want the 40 over the 45?

Do you have the Latub already? Can you measure how close it can get to the negative holder with the bellows fully compressed?

The main reason is, I can get it for a fantastic price! If money wasn't an issue, I'd definitely go for the 50mm.

I'd get the 50 regardless of the price on the 40........or you could use an 80 mm. Don't know what you're enlarging that you need a 40 mm. If it's 135, then use an 80 or a 105 which will work on a Seipla/Seitopla and be done with it. L

That's scrunching the bellows pretty hard, and might disturb your level. I can't recommend it, though I have often used a basic 50 for modest enlargements just fine. I prefer something longer, at least 75.

Always hated the Latub, found it impossible to use, why I bought the Laratub-N some 25 years ago! Used it mostly with the 80mm Apo. L

Frankly, I had my recessed holder custom machined.

Yeah, I checked, it gets pretty compressed. I don't think the 40mm would work for bigger enlargements. It's hard to say no to a good deal, but I'll have to pass.

Thanks for the input, everyone.
