I need a new bulb for my Durst 138 englarger, but I can't remember what types will perform correctly. My current bulb has no identifiable markings on it. Thanks!

More information would help, e.g., format(s), type of head, magnification range, blower, exhaust fan -all play their part.

If it has time until weekend ... I have made notices about the needed buld but at the moment out of reach. Send me a pm as reminder.

Ron,

You may want to contact Lee...he has come up with a replacement bulb.

I have seen the original Thorn lamp in wattages from 200 to 500.

I have considered going to a different socket and bulb entirely when mine fails. My thought was to go to a projection halogen with a reflector fashioned around the rear and sides.

try getting in contact with kennedywebster.com, they have great reference materials on matching light sources and great prices as well.

they have an ebay store light64 as well

I asked Lee about this a while back, he said "the lamp is a Ph 213. This is a 110vac 250watt that looks like a regular household light bulb. Try B&H Photo and they should have them and they are cheap like $5.00 or so."

BTW, here's (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Hi !
The 138 used to have 300 W bulbs of about 4" diameter. These are no longer made.
I've had success using a Phillips double envelloppe bulb of 95 mm diameter alas comming only in 150 W. But as it is an halogen bulb, output is near the 300W conventional one. This is the nearest replacement one can find, the bulb is perfectly round, well frosted white, with no markings. It is called HALOGENA in Europe. It come in 60 or 100 or 150 W all same 95 mm diameter.
I do not know if such bulb is sold in the USA as in Europe they are 220V.
BTW, heat is quite low.
Enjoy ;-)
