Hi, I have a small issue and I’d like to clarify whether this is normal.

Up to now, I’ve been making enlargements in the darkroom from film formats up to 6×7. Recently, I started working with 4×5 inch film. I’ve noticed that when I place the film in the glass carrier, the corners of the negative are partially masked by the carrier’s diagonal corner masks. As a result, I’m unable to print the entire image area onto the paper without cutting off the corners of the frame.

I’m not sure whether this is a standard design feature for 4×5 negative carriers, or if I might be using the wrong carrier for this enlarger. Could you please advise?

To me, that sounds like an issue with the carrier. But as I don't use a Durst 1200, I think you will need to hear from those who do. Do you know which carrier you have installed?

Is it inscribed with any of those classically confusing Durst accessory names?
It could be designed for something like quarter plate or one of the metric sizes that are smaller than 4x5.
