Dumb Rollei TLR question re: ASA setting

Hello.

I have a 1956 Rollei 3.5 TLR, and have a question which I can't find answered anywhere. How on earth do you adjust the little ASA setting on NON metered models??? I realize it only serves as a reminder for what type of film in the camera, but I have fiddled with that focus knob and the film type indictor and cannot figure out how to re-set the ASA to a different number. I've pulled up, pushed down, spun around the Pan-Ortho indicator in the middle, but nothing moves the ASA setting.

WTF?

All the manuals do not show this. I am flummoxed. HELP. More curious than anything else.

I don't think I've ever set the reminders on mine, but now that I look, turning one direction sets film type, turning the other direction sets ASA speed.

On some of the dials, you set the ASA by turning the dial continuously in one direction, then go backwards to select the film type in the second window. It's only when you hit the 'end' of the film type dial that the ASA dial starts moving.

Must be stuck. If I turn the little tab in the middle to the right, the entire center section moves together, the window and the ASA numbers traveling along in harmony, forever bonded at ASA 400. If you spin the tab to the left, it does change the film type.

So it's either stuck or I don't have the secret handshake.
It's a Rolleiflex 3.5E, late 1950s - the first model, I believe, that offered the built-in light meter. Oh well...

Everything else works perfectly, after a CLA from Advance Camera in Beaverton, Oregon. They are awesome! Gary
