I have a Beseler 23cii and a Dual Dichro 23c color head (non-S). It didn't come with the mounting screws, brackets, springs, etc. Is there a way I can set it up?

I believe it uses SAE hardware which should be easily sourced in the USA.

Try Ace Hardware. They have a good selection of screws, nuts, bolts, washers, etc.

I don't believe the brackets and aux counterbalance spring are absolutely necessary. I mounted a dual dicrhro S without them. I suppose there is slightly more risk of the head falling off if the enlarger is bumped or moved. The biggest issue might be the lack of the shaft extension for the condenser stage.

I have a pdf of the Dual Dicrho (non S) manual. Send me a note if you'd like.

The dual 2 head i bought mentions in it that the springs are needed to counterbalance the excess weight of the dual 2 head. Manual doesnt explain HOW it works but it gives the impression its needed.

I just use my left hand to help raise the head while cranking with my right hand. Works for me - though I'm sure the spring would be better. YMMV.

The Dual Dichro S head is massive as you know,, it has several issues

1. the head can only be rotated to the horizontal position if it has the attachment kit, its just held by gravity otherwise.

2. The attachment kit uses two brackets that are screwed into plastic tabs that expand when the screws are screwed in. Thus just sticking a screw through the hole not gonna do a thing

3.If you install as a condenser setup, you NEED to adjust the film negative size to the correct format,
3a If you use 35mm negatives you WILL need the ability to rotate horizontally as the height of the heads fan/lightbulb box in the 35mm format is NOT going to do larger then 5x7 prints.
3b DIFFUSION mode requires the 23Cii to be set to the 6x9 format indicator on height adjustment for ALL NEGATIVE sizes

4. SOME spots online consider the diffuser screens in the Dual Dichro S head to be "less effective" then purchasing a filter kit from Ilford. But its what it is.
