While experimenting with new developers, I have been extremely pleased with the results obtained with Silvergrain DS-10/12 metol-ascorbate formulae. To the point that I am considering switching a consistent amount of developing processes to these developers.

Does anyone know the minimum amount of stock solution needed to develop one 135-36 film (one-shot usage)?

Thank you very much. Ciao,

I don't know what the lower limits are or whether what I do might be risky, but....

I regularly use DS-10 at 1+1 dilution, or DS-12 at 2+1 dilution, to make 250ml of working solution to develop my films. (Actually, I use a 5x concentrate of DS-12 at 2+13 dilution, since it keeps better this way.) I've used the DS-10 with a variety of films, mostly ISO 200 or faster -- Fomapan 200, Fomapan 400, Fuji Neopan 1600, Agfa APX 400 S, and perhaps others. I've used DS-12 with a variety of mostly slower films -- Fomapan 200, Fomapan 100, Agfa APX 100, Kodak TMX 100, Efke KB25, Fuji Acros 100, Ilford Pan F+ 50, Shanghai GP3 (MF only; not 35mm), Svema FN64, and perhaps others. The only time I had a problem was with some 1.5-year-old 5x DS-12 and Kodak TMX 100, and that was almost certainly due to the developer's age.

That it is quite a lot of developer for one 35mm/36 exp. film. I have never used more than 100ml of stock solution (eventually diluted) in 25 years!

Thanks. Ciao,

The 250ml was the working solution, not the stock solution! I need 250ml to cover the reels in my SS tank, so using less is not possible for me, at least not without changing to a rotary processing system.
