Well 2 months ago I went big (kinda) and got a 4X5. I did the tray development thing and never really mastered it, very inconsistent, my bad. Then I contact printed my negs, 4X5 contact prints just aren't impressive.

Soooooooo..........................

I picked up a Beseler MX45 enlarger with a color-head and most of the trimmings. ie. lenses, lens boards, neg holders and a nice timer. $310 of eBay. But----it's to big for my darkroom so now I need to build a new enlarger table/stand. I am waitin tell I get all the neg holders I need and a lens for 4X5

I also picked up a Jobo expert drum. I couldn't decide between the 3006 or the 3010, might want to move up to 5X7 someday. But I decided on the 3010. Well the place I ordered it from sent the 3006. What the hell I kept it, guess it was suppose to be the 3006. Just did my first 5 negs! Wow great results I did a 5 min prewash with the recommended time. They looked just a little over developed, very printable though. Oh yea also use the recommended of chemicals too.

Just thought I would share.

I just recently started using the Jobo for 4x5 as well. I was rolling back and forth over the table--made me dizzy but worked great. I finally bid on a Beseler motor base. What a relief! I use HP5 and HC-110 rated at 800 and 1600. I love the combination. 7.5 minutes for the 800 and 11 minutes for the 1600(68 degrees). Even at 1600 the 4x5 looks buttery smooth. I would strongly recommend the motor base if you don't have one.
