I just have to brag to an audience who knows what I'm talking about.

Having read about standing developement with Rodinal I decided to try it on a roll of 120 FP4+. Rodinal 1:100, 1 minute constant agitation. Rest 1 minute, 10 second agitation. Rest 30 min, agitate 30 sec. Rest 30 min. Stop, fix, wash....

Pulled the roll from the reel with trembling fingers. Oh Joy. Sharp! And beautiful contrast! At least what I could see on the negs. Can't wait to put in on the light table tomorrow and have a real look at it.

If the negs are as good as I think even on paper I will be very happy.

Shimoda, I have seen and have been very impressed with what you have posted here on APUG. I share your excitement with the new process. I've been experimenting with semi stand developement for a while now and I love it too. Good luck with these and please post your results.

I'm curious about stand development, but I've never dipped my toe in the Rodinal pool and I really don't need *another* developer on the shelf. Am I right in thinking it works well with high-acutance developers generally, or is there something special about p-aminophenol in this respect? How does one figure out a starting point for the time?

My one experiment with stand development in HC-110 was interesting but couldn't exactly be called successful. I basically got giant squares of monster grain with an occasional bit of image leaking through.

Do the minimal developer volume requirements apply to 'doin it standing' as well?
I'm used to min. 5ml of Rodinal per roll. Works OK with 1:50 in 250ml tank. 1:100 would need 2.5ml which sounds a bit way too low. Should I use 500ml tank for stand?

I read somewhere that Agfa recommends a minimum of 10ml / film. I used 5ml and result was OK. Have not tried 2.5 ml.

FWIW I routinely use 5mL for plain-vanilla developing with Rodinal and never noticed a difference.
 
Saw a flickr photo last month. Rodinal 1:300 with 1ml Rodinal, but that was 35mm film (if that makes a difference)

I got me a bottle of Rodinal (last time i used it was in the late 1970s) and will be trying stand developing too.
Never done it before.
 
Would you share the ISO rating and development temperature? Thanks.

I use Rodinal 1:100, 75F, with Delta 400 all the time, works with Trix too.
2 min presoak (if I don't presoak with D-400, I get a lot of foam during agitation in development, must be the AH layer), then 2 min constant agitation, then 15sec agitation every 4 minutes for 20 - 23 min, depending on subject contrast. Negs could be contrastier, but they print well split filtered with a V54 Aristo in an Omega D2.
 
I just finished 20+ rolls of stand development for local gentleman in exchange for some darkroom equipment. I used 22-25 ml Rodinal to 2000ml of water (1:90) for 3 rolls of 36 exposure. 1 hour, with 60 seconds constant agitation to begin and 30 seconds halfway through. All came out fine and very printable negatives.
