Does the horseman 45hf have enough movement?

im narrowing my search and was curious about how much rise, shift, swing etc. is usually used?

The image attached is specs for the 45hf which has more limited movements than the new models. Are these movements enough? Or is it worth saving up more money for a newer hd?

By the way, I realise my question is pretty vague. I shoot a lot of different things so all input is welcome. I'm guessing the regulars who've been helping the last few days already have a bit of a clue

That's a reasonable range of movements, a touch more than my Super Graphic. you've 15º front tilt, 10º back tilt and an additional 15º with the drop bed, that's the most important movements.

You would need a finder for hand held work though.

Or if you get a really good price look for a Mamiya Press 23 or maybe a 6X9 fixed lens folder for the times you need to shoot handheld.

Depends. Its a very nicely made camera for mid-range lenses, slightly wide to slightly long relative to 4x5 format. Being a "technical" camera, don't
expect extreme movements suitable for pro interior architectural use or significant outdoor rise. It is a nice portable field camera, seemingly as well
made as a Technika, but without the same bellows range, weight, or price. They're nice. I looked at Horseman folders, but they're just too limited for
my own needs; even Technikas are. I prefer a full-featured monorail system.

What kind of movement do you need? If not more than the camera can deliver then you'll probably find it acceptable. If it doesn't move far enough in one direction you might need to modify it. Shooting at f32 can help.

sepiareverb, Im not sure how much Ill need as Ive never used one before. would you say the specs/movements of the HF would cover most needs well?

I'm not so sure about those models other than the FA, but I think that the main thing you loose is the little flap on the FA that allows for some additional front rise. The front standard, I think, is identical. The issue is that with some lenses the front of the camera can interfere with front rise.

You may be able to use 'parallel movements' to achieve the same effect on the older camera without the extra front rise flap. If you don't know that that is, here is an example pointing down. Rise with parallel movements would the the same concept but pointing upward.

Move months I'm more likely to be limited by the ends than the camera.
