If you can get your hands on a Mitchell Colorbrator, it was designed to program the ColorStar 3000 (specifically) in a single test strip.

Those Mitchell Colorbrators are hard to come by. I love the idea of using one to hit correct color and density in a print or two. I have a Colorstar 3000, but haven’t used it yet. The instructions are confusing! I haven’t had any time to work in the darkroom, hopefully soon though. I think I’ll experiment with the Duo Cube as well.

You are correct, but twice in the last year they came up on eBay. I missed the first one, so I added a search notifications for the Colorstar and the Colorbrator on eBay and a few months ago a complete set came up with a Colorstar 3000 and I got the email notification right away, so I bought the set, kept the Colorbrator, and sold the analyzer for the same price I bought the lot since I already had a 3000.
Well worth the patience.

Nice! I think I’ll set up the notification on that. I found my Colorstar 3000 that way. I don’t have any trouble achieving color balance shooting gray cards and using viewing filters, but my time is limited, so anything that speeds up that process is valuable to me.
