Does the 65mm ecn2 remjet backing block light for daylight camera loading?

What I want to know, if anyone can help me, is if you can spool the 65mm movie neg without paper? I know the remjet backing blocks light for daylight camera loading of 16mm spools, but when I hold my ecn2 film on the light table I have to double it up for no light pass through.

And does anyone know of a resource to get Vision3 in 65mm bulk for me to cut down and spool as 220? I don't care about the perfs, cuz actual image projection is only like 56mm. Thanks!

There are sources for short lenghts of cine film stock, but 65mm is not really a popular size.

You can load 16mm on spool in daylight because only the outer layer of film gets exposed to the free light, which you dont use when threading a camera anyway.

If you pull the film off the spool it will be exposed no matter, you have to load it spool to spool like that in the dark.


Processing ECN-2 isn't terribly hard, from my experience.

I've had no problem with not removing remjet before developing, it didnt stick to the film in fact it comes off, the only problem is you need to throw out the developer as its black full of the carbon.

You can remove almost all of the remjet with a couple of traces left in an warm-hot alkaline bath (up to the same as process temp) with lots of agitation then a warm-hot rinse with agitation. Sometimes it gets it all, other times there'll be a few traces left on the film - which stay on the film during development from experience.

I have investigated this and found it to be too difficult - using movie film in a still camera.

Plus - Vision 3 in 65mm is going to be expensive.

But, if you want to go ahead, buy it from Kodak or another distributor - see Kodak motion picture website.

I havent found any part of it difficult, just time consuming.

I've rewound 400ft 500T rolls in a change back onto a empty used 100ft bulk loader spool through the bulk loader. Loads just like regular now. Even if it took a while to wind on.

Our faculty wanted to buy from Kodak (our supplier of film) positive b&w Kodak 5302 - 35mm, with negative perforation. This array is passed Kodak offer. Kodak Company requires a minimum quantity of 30 rolls of 305 m.
I managed to get a single box, for samples, from Orwo. The price was almost double thet the price of Kodak 5302 positive normal (positive perforation).
I told it to expect that the price you ECN 2 - 65 mm to be a big one.
The second issue is the minimum amount you need to order.
The third challenge is waiting. Not a common product, is made to order.
And I'm interested from b&w Kodak positive that I can use on my camera to Pentacon Six 6 as a negative film -6 ISO. I think it might be easier if we tried to ask big planfilm?? 60 x 90 cm.
I have been testing positive b&w Kodak 5302 (35mm) and I am very happy.

George, you did a special order/request concerning perforations. That 65mm film however is listed in Kodak's catalogue. Even as single spool. Though 1000ft may still be somewhat much for the OP.

The manager of Kodak Cinelabs Romania, Ms. Cornelia Popa we were colleagues at Buftea processing laboratory film 25 years ago. It is very kindly and helps a lot.
Starting a cutting and punching lines probably can not make small quantities of film.
The Kodak catalog are flaws or changes.
From a technical standpoint I understand the need for minime quantities ordered.
Quantities of film should be viewed as a movie film, not photo film.
