I bought my bottle of Ferric Ammonium Citrate about a year ago and have always stored it in the original container in an open cupboard away from direct sunlight. Would it go bad in storage after several months?

Thanks,
Chris

Be sure that the lid is on tight. If it hasn't been opened and it is well sealed it should last a long time. However, if moisture can get to it (and it doesn't take much of a leak for that to happen) it can set up solid like a green brick and if it does, it's not likely going to be of much use. I've seen this happen more than once.

I always take mine out of the plastic container and but it in brown glass. It lasts for years in such conditions.

I think it could be somewhat dependent upon where you are. I live on the wet side of the mountains in the Pacific NW of the US. It can get pretty damp. Any precaution to keep it dry couldn't hurt.

Well, you'd know!
You'd want to keep the F-A-C dry, ...

Know better now. Checked via Google.
There is a green and a brown version. Both are
VERY soluble. A 60% solution is mentioned and
even greater concentration likely possible.

The solution should be kept in a dark space as
light will reduce the the ferri to ferro. Dan

I've never bought it in solution; that is an interesting idea, but it seems to me that stuff might grow in it. You know. Urschleim. I've always bought it dry. Most formulae call for the green, but I've seen I think one for the brown.
