If EKCo owns Instamatic name why wouldn't Kodak make 35mm plastic cameras and sell millions?? Then have Cinestill market color negative film and call it Kodachrome.

Kodak has just introduced a cheap, simple 35 mm camera (as well as a half-frame version) -- the selling millions bit is evading them, though, because film is still a hobby item rather than a consumer commodity.

Marketing something else as Kodachrome would be silly -- anyone who remembers the real Kodachrome would just shout from the rooftops about how this isn't it. At the very minimum, it would need to be a transparency film, and none of the E-4 or E-6 films has ever matched K-14 Kodachrome.

Kodak let the trademark expire in 2004, so they no longer own the name.

That isn't Kodak. It is a different entity who has licensed the Kodak name. There are some Kodak based internet links as well in support of the marketing.

I am surprised that whoever owns this trademark for cameras doesn't exploit it. I would bet Instagram owns this and more just to keep it on the sidelines.

The trademark search I posted timed out… I just learned that the search link is not persistent.

Do a basic word search, ‘instamatic’, to see history of that trade name.
