Hi everyone, I'm on the hunt for old exposed film rolls waiting to be developed. It's for an ongoing project/upcoming exhibition. If you have any or know of someone who does, please let me know. I'd be happy to pay for them. Thanks

Just out of curiosity what happens to the films you receive? Do the original owners ever see their negs/prints? It might just be me but if I had exposed a film which was waiting to be developed even if it was old then I'd want to see what was on the negs and get prints from those negs I liked. Sending the film to you denies me that benefit. Isn't there privacy concerns as well? Even if the film is one I had discovered in a camera I had bought sheer curiosity would want me to develop it to see what was there.

What is the project and upcoming exhibition?

Hi Rosewater, Welcome to Photrio!
I'm not sure where in Australia you're located, but all of my "found film" came from a local second hand place in Tyabb, Victoria. One dealer there bought old cameras and, if there was film inside any of them, he gave them to me to be developed. I can give more details of the location if you're in the vicinity.

I'm afraid any film I have that might have fit your requirements was developed the moment I acquired it. Like pentaxuser, I'd probably have had trouble relinquishing it anyway if I didn't wind up with the negatives and/or prints afterwards and I'd also be somewhat concerned about privacy issues if they were to be displayed publicly. That being said, your project sounds intriguing and I'd love to hear more about it!

Hi Pentaxuser and Molli,

I develop the old film that I find. Most of them come from people who have found them locked up in old estates. I don't usually know who the owner is but I would, of course, happily provide them with the negs/prints if I ever did.
You can read more about the project here: Dead Link Removed

I'm reflecting on privacy issues - I have my own thoughts on this.
And if anyone happens to identify people in the photographs, and isn't comfortable having them on display, I'd happily take them down.
