I'm getting one of these from ebay, but the only info Ken Rockwell has is on the AI-s version, which does have CRC. Can anyone help me out? Thanks, Chip

Yep - all versions of this lens had CRC since it was first introduced in the late 60's.

Some optical design changes with the AI/AIS versions, impacting mostly flare and ghosting performance.

I have the pre-AI version from 1970 and it's a great lens - real sharp. Good for landscapes, but watch out for field curvature if you're shooting flat objects like buildings up close.

Thanks, guys. That's good to hear since I'll be shooting antique cars from 1-2ft away!

Well, I have both and they perform about the same from center to corner.enjoy it.

Meh. I don't like the G lenses regardless of speed. Cannot use them on all my cameras. Not all that enamored with AF lenses in general. I always seem to find situations where they've difficulties.

My Canon FD 35mm f2 Thorium lens has close range compensation and it was made forty years ago.
