Hi, I'm about to matt and mount for the first time. I've the Seal 210 dry mount press. I've an FB print that I'd like to mount. However I want to do some spotting first. I've the Marshall RetouchingSpot-All 3B. Now the question is do you spot before you dry mount or after? I'm afraid that if I spotted before the heat from the press will ruin the dyes.
I always spot first then dry mount that way I can wash the print and start again if I've made a complete pigs ear of it. I have never noticed any problem with the inks during or following dry mounting.
Plus 1 on first. I use Spotone inks that I've had for years. No problems with the inks as well. If you haven't spotted prints before hold a processed paper that is similar to that of the print next to the area to be spotted and workout the shade. It's better to build up the tone then to go too far.
