I like Ilford because of their quality products, and the fact that they listen to the photo community. Didn't they bring back SFX? They also do limited runs!

Ilford is awesome, and I use their chemistry and paper. Unfortunately I cannot afford to use their films. But sometimes I still buy some Delta 3200, because it's so unique and beautiful.

They make amazing products. And they are a top notch company.

Great stuff. What's not to like about a quality product? HP5+ and PanF+ are a couple of my favorites.

Yep,

Chemistry are great, and FP4 in 120 is my favorite film (but I prefer Plus-X in 35mm...).

Delta 3200 is great and will get more use with my bran new Hassy....

I love the delta 3200 grain and tones!

After 30 years of the 'Yellow Box' I switched over to Ilford about 8 months ago. So far, so good

i love ilford. i've had great results with pan f+ and HP5+. i prefer Tri-X's grain to HP5's, however, so i use TX400 and push it when i'm in low light. i also have some D3200 in the fridge but i've never used it. (that reminds me, is the DX coding on D3200 ISO 1000 (like it is rated) or ISO 3200?) i want to try out FP4+ but it's a little expensive.

If you are a B&W photographer, I guess they're awesome. But they never even entered the colour photography world, so I digress that they are listening to the photo community - unless like most typical B&W photographers, the universe of film photography revolves around them.

Regards, Art.

Their products are good but I can't afford any of it. There is no Ilford product other than Delta 3200 that can't be found cheaper and just as good made by someone else. IMO.

absolutely, even when I can't afford it (paper that is)------I buy my film and chemistry from Kodak

Pan F and HP5 are my favorite films, so yes. I cant always afford them, but when I can they're what I go to.
MGIV is the only paper most shops here sell too, so it's been my standard since I started out. Those +10 sheet value packs are very welcome to a student budget.

Yeah, the only B&W films (which is 95% of what I shoot) I've used are FP4 and HP5. Mostly because both are easily sourced locally, so I've somewhat got a grasp of them (though I really should test them to my sloppy developing routines [whole other can of worms]).

Though now I've started ordering my film from overseas simply because it's half the cost thus doesn't take many rolls/sheets before they've paid for the shipping and I start saving money. I'm not sure I'll try any other brands though even though I have access to them now, simply because I admire Ilfords commitment to B&W photographers.

I would absolutely love the company except I can't afford their products last semester I spent $84 on their film $150 on their paper. If I would have gone to freestyle and ordered some of their current products that could have been cut back to $100 in total (of course last semester it probably would have been $150). Of course my only experience is HP5 in some random almost definitely exhausted developer and MGIV VC RC Glossy paper (which I do love but on my budget I'm going to have to go for the arista papers).

Yes, I love Ilford, absolutely! And I love Big Yellow! And Efke! Adox! Lucky! Foma! Forte! Fuji! And Berger! and Kentmere(well Kentmere/Ilford) and Oriental and anybody else who makes film and film related products!!!!!!I love you, man!!!!

Yes I love D3200 because no one else makes a comparable product in 120 and tonally it is wonderful.
I also like using Pan F and HP5 as in my country they are the cheapest films I can get hold of, I pay £1.55 for a 120 roll.
I also use Neopan and Acros, Kodak rarely as in the UK at least their products are more expensive (my supplier 30-50%).

I use almost exclusive Ilford, both in film (PanF, Delta 100 and HP5), chemicals (ID-11 and Perceptol) and paper. I know it can be pricey but I also know the quality is always there. That said, I am trying something in a yellow box just to see what the dark side is like.

Yes ... but I hardly ever use them.

Their film is 2x the price of the Big Green or Yellow here in Japan.

I like it!!!
I use films as FP4+ and HP5+ for all my works in 8x10 and 8x20 and some chemicals. Sometimes I use also Galerie Paper, but I use silver-chloride paper and it's a pity ilford dosen't have...
But I like all product for black and White. Ilford, Kodak, Bergger, Foma, etc etc.

Stefano

But they never even entered the colour photography world.

Well, they used to make Ilfocolor film and Ilfochrome, the colour process previously known as Cibachrome.

But yes, they are 100% black and white now (actually there is some grey involved too).

From this website: http://www.thebigcamera.com.au/Ilford.html

After the war Ilford poured a lot of effort into colour film and by 1948 had a film that rivaled its competitors. Ilford colour "D" was a transparency (slide) film and, by offering an entirely new print making service, they were able to make up much of the lost ground in the colour field.

Do I ever! Yes, I like Ilford. That's what I started with umphteen years ago (when FP4 and HP5 were still without the +), and that's what I use most of the time nowadays. I have some Agfa paper, all the rest is Ilford. I have some Rollei and Kodak B&W film, but I mostly shoot Delta 100 in MF and HP5+ in 35mm. Film developer is Ilford 95% of the time. Other chemicals were Amaloco, a local Dutch company that's closing down this year. So, next year, I plan to have Ilford chemistry.

And indeed, that's only for B&W. I already support Kodak and Fuji when I shoot colour, so I might as well support Ilford when I shoot B&W.
