Some people get approved by the Art Mafia so the clueless know what to buy, some people produce work that is easy to digest as art and some people pursue their offbeat vision and survive however they can. Good luck to them all.

Very well said! BTW, the art in the lobby of the Chelsea Hotel runs a fantastic gamut. If some or all of it is in lieu of rent it's the most wonderful deal in NYC; the owner is a major prince among men.

Bill, last year I stayed in North America, but managed to hit 36 states and 7 ( or 8?) provinces of Canada in 20 weeks of travel. Sorry if I made it sound drab but after a while it really is a grind, especially when one is alone for all that time. I mean how many times can you sing "a hundred bottles of beer on the wall" by yourself? Don't get me wrong though, I wouldn't trade my life for anything, but my satisfaction with it, as you well know, doesn't mean it doesn't require effort

Oh, that lobby! There's plenty more on the walls of all the floors and the staircase. The place is covered in the stuff. Pause a moment in the double mirrors as you go though the entrance doorway.

Best,
Helen
