I am shopping from aliexpress com frequently. They sell 40 inches tripod for 15 dollar with free shipping. I have box tengor , pentax , polaroid 350 and vermeer 66 120 pinhole.

They write their tripods are for dslr and video cameras , d80 and whatever it was.

Do that tripod fit to my cameras ?

Old cameras usually had a 1/4" or 3/8" hole for mounting the camera to a tripod. There are also quick connect adapters that are available. I don't know if your particular cameras have a unique screw hole size, but I doubt it.

The thing with video camera tripods are they often have additional angle supports that are good for level surfaces but limiting for shooting on uneven ground levels in the outdoors. Also the camera head for movies operates more smoothly as you pan. Otherwise you'd get jumpiness. So regardless of the tripos, the head becomes an issue.

Thank you Alan , I think quick connect adapter with shipping expense , doubles the cost , better way is to buy from here and with divided monthly payment. I am city guy and will use the tripod around my home. No intention to go to offroad. But thank you very much for information.
May be at ebay , there are used ones also. May be I buy from APUG , These are the options.

Have a nice evening,

Umut,

Those are junk. Better to work with an APUG offer for a tripod. Or make your own from wood. The standard thread 1/4 inch - 20 pitch is easy to find at a hardware store. You can get a bolt that is threaded with a "wood screw" on one end and the 1/4 - 20 thread on the other. With one of those and two 1/4 - 20 "wingnuts" you can turn "anything" wooden into a camera mount.

Turkey as Europe is metrical. At least over here I never saw such screws and nuts at hardware stores. But meanwhile you can obtain such via post-order. Imperial thread cutting tools even showed up once at Aldi.

Anyway, any better machine shop in Istanbul shuld meanwhile have such cutting tools, thus cutting nuts and bolts, if really necessary, should be no problem.

anything that costs $15 with shipping is going to be junk.

All tripods use the same mounting screw, typically the 1/4 inch nowdays, unless your cameras are very old and sold for the European market. Tripods sold for video sometimes have a little screw peg that pokes up in the mount to keep the video camera pointed forward, but you can easily remove that.

having said that, $15 tripods are going to be junk. Save your pennies and get something solid. Used tripods are perfectly fine because there's pretty much nothing to wear out on one.

which vermeer pinhole did you get? I've been lusting for one of those for a while now ... if you are shooting pinhole you definitely want a good solid tripod. A cheap plastic one won't cut it.

Tripod threads are (or were) 1/4" British Standard Whitworth rather than the very similar American 1/4 - 20 UNC thread.

And not all of Europe is fully metric!

Thank you Bill , AgX , Summicron and Steve.

Bill , I love wooden tripods but accessing dry wood is harder to access fresh kodachrome here. Lets talk , Istanbul is put on two continents , Europe and Asia and spans may be 150 kilometers or more. I am located at west end and imported wood sellers are located at the east end.
I love Khaya , an Gibson , Rickenbacker Mahagony parts wood and its extremelly heavy , wraps with the moisture like an paper but when it oxidizes , its so beatiful dark reddish brownish tone resembelance to old 17th century red pigments.

Going to east end costs more than 7 hours and least 40 dollars expense. Plywood is extremelly expensive , 1 square meters 12mm lowest quality wet plywood sold for 32 dollars here !!!! It was 8 dollars 3 years ago.

I think my best diy investment can be home window glass aluminum frame cut. They are cheap , comes in exotic sections , lightweight and does not oxidise or oxide protects the underlayer. Yes , that is the best way. Thank you Bill.

Summicron,

My sister gifted that light golden brownish vermeer camera last year , bought from Paris and costed her more than 100 dollars.

Its a very handsom and parts - threads - works like a magic.

I shot 12 ,66 pictures with it and could not find a 120 film scanner shop and scanned with internet cafe scanner and my hat flied off , such a magnificient pictures , I strongly advise you the pinhole cameras , they are like da vinci dark background pictures and scary.

Thanks all,

Umut
