Now that I've (nearly) completed the two big repair projects, the Minolta (Maxxum/Alpha) 7000 AF and 9000 AF, I'm considering what to do next.

I still have a lot of tasks waiting in my box for repairs.
  • One is the Canon A-series SLRs, which fascinate me but where I won't be able to contribute much new. There are already many excellent repair reports on this online.
  • The Canon T90 is still waiting for me to remove its shutter and check it for the infamous EEE error. This presents me with a demanding soldering challenge.
  • I'd also like to take a look at some first-generation Minolta AF lenses with oily apertures.
  • Also, there's the Nikon MD-4 motor drive for the Nikon F3 and
  • a Nikon FG both in unclear condition.
If there's any particular interest, please let me know; otherwise, I'll keep going as long as I can still hold a screwdriver 🤠

One more note about the presentation here:

I've promised @koraks, @MattKing and myself to bundle the reports into one thread each topic, so that there are no more parallel threads that have sprung up from my enthusiasm 🤪

This should make it more manageable.

I vote for the MD-4.

I don't have that, but I did just start bidding on a MD-12 for my FM. It is listed as 'parts or repair.' I don't have experience with any of the Nikon add-on motor drives yet.

The MD-4 is built like a tank, and there's some interesting electromechanical engineering to see. I've collected a few MD-4s, including some battery electrolyte victims.

Thanks for your interest.

I've already tried my hand at an MD-12.

The internal wiring is very limited, so every millimeter is cut. Reassembly is accordingly tricky.

I'll be working on the Minolta Dynax 7000i for a while longer.

Here are my posts about the MD-4.

I'll continue working on this topic, of course.

I'd be very interested in the A-1, I'd even have a camera for you to work on with interesting problems. 🤓

There are already many repair reports on Canon A, so I won't be able to contribute anything new.

I tend to disagree. You produce top-notch repair reports with detailed pictures. It's not every day you see reports like that.

I worked on the youngest member of the Hi-Matic family here:
