I need to make a dark slide for the S2A since the camera I just bought didn't come with one. Can someone recommend a material that will work without it bending when inserting. I tried a piece of brass but it's too flimsy. Also why is the curve end important?

I offered him $10 but he declined and I might go to $15 and see what happens. There also a camera show in the Boston area April 14th so I might try there.

I have a Bronica dark slide , not sure if it's an S2a however . It has 2 small tabs on the side away from the pull.
PM me if it's correct and if you'd like it (cheap). Peter

Does it look like this?

How about the dark slide from a 4x5 holder as donor material?

Funny you should mention that. I just tried it tonight but it's a little too thick. I only have the plastic slide and wonder if the metal one would be a little thinner.

Campy51's measurements are correct for the S2 and S2a dark slides. The thickness of the stainless steel is ,33mm or .0135" on my "Harbor Fright" caliper.
Measuring a 2X3 Graflex Graphic dark slide the thickness is .70mm or .0265".

Had the same problem here, used a slide for a 6x7 I had lying around. End corners were round and did not trigger the unlocking lever of the back, but since it was much longer that needed, I filed the end in the original shape, removing 5mm all along the vertical edge and now it works fine. Stick out quite a bit, but I have only one back so far, so it gets seldom used. I may rework it for the proper length... sometime !
