Hello all,

Just thought I'd check in and see if anyone has ever made or had suggestions to make a AN glass carrier
out of a Beseler 45MX 4x5 neg carrier...? I print primarily 6x9 and 665 Polaroid.

I've had no luck finding one used on Ebay, and they are too much new from B&H. I've always preferred
a glass carrier to the non for the 6x9.

Best,
Jason

Im going to try to make one for my 23CII XL. I have a universal one but it doesnt seem to hold the film flat as it the film easily moves around if even slightly bumped while in the enlarger.

The hinge is different on the glass carrier than the 'normal' carrier. You can't just toss two plates of glass into one, unless you reconfigure the hinge.

The 'normal' carrier is on top. You'll notice the two metal plates are together. The glass carrier, on the bottom, has space in the hinge design to allow for the glass in the carrier.

Is it bent or something? I would think you could improvise by putting friction or cloth tape on top of the metal to reduce clearance & increase grip, easier than making one.

I realize the hinge issue, I had already factored for that...thats just a case of rivet stack height, it was more a question if anyone had ever
used an old 4x5 Beseler carrier to fabricate one.

Since you're aware of the rivet height, I'd sorta guess you're looking for a way to just add glass.
AN glass online and I'd assume(!) it could be taped into place.
OR
1/32" ply could be used as edges to make a frame to hold it in place, using double faced tap to hold it.

Before I acquired a number of carriers I used 2 sheets of glass with masks cut from mat board. I black-taped the masks to keep dust down and never had an issue with fringes from glass to negative contact.

You guys know of a source for the correct type of glass for this?
