Hey everyone - I'm just wondering whether anyone could give me some pointers to construct my own 10x8 reflex hood for my Sinar. I do understand that a first surface mirror is mandatory for the reflex, though is there any other tips for angle/geometry or binocular sights that I need to know? I've become very frustrated with poor framing on my 10x8 portraits, so any advice in making my own will be greatly appreciated!

hi frank
hate to suggest this but can you get your hands on a 4x5 reflex hood?
they sell on ebay or wherever for IDK 100-300 used ..
( or one from an old polaroid copy camera for next to nothing )
you can grab the eyepiece from IT and just use the design
of the 4x5 version to make your bigger one.
go to a doll house supply shop to get the mirror, it costs
next to nothing , is flexible and cuts with scissors ...
45ºangle for the first reflection and then the others depend if you want to flip it ...
and ... figure out a mounting system which might be a pain
are you having trouble framing on the ground glass ?
good luck!

Why is framing a problem? Does the subject move while you close and cock the shutter, insert the film holder and remove the dark slide? Does closing the shutter etc. shift the point of aim? Using a reflex finder won't solve either of these problems.
