Disks for Fujinon 180mm Soft Focus lens

Now don’t lose it! They are as easy to misplace as Graflex viewfinder masks. Just a lot more difficult to replace!

I'm thinking on the lines of glueing a filter box with a screw on lid onto the lens cap .
It'll be either with the lens or in my pocket that way .

That is exactly what I did. A good solution!

... not to mention the rangefinder cams of the pacemakers, unable to find those and easy to lose as well...

My lens is the 250mm SF , that lens uses a Copal 3s shutter rather than the Copal 1 shutter on yours .
Theses a big size difference between the two , the the measurements of mine won't help you .
You could possibly scale down , in which case , check out #8 on this thread ;

When you unscrew the front of the lens , the SF disc just clips on , so you can get that measurement of your lens .

Theses a big size difference between the two , the the measurements of mine won't help you .

My apologies, I thought you got 180mm.
I saw that post, thanks. I thought maybe someone had already scaled it down to 180mm and tested it, I guess I'll have to be a pathfinder.

When you do , please update these threads as it might help others .
If you do go down the 3d printing route , please make the files available to others too .

Light update

So far I've taken care of the yellow disk - already have a 3D model and drawing.

1. 3D model

Because of the size (thickness) of the disk itself, it came out translucent. After printing it is necessary to blacken (paint) the disk. As an option, black watercolor paint with printer ink (1:1) - advised as the best option.

I'm going to try blackening and testing with film, I'll be back with results later.

2. Drawing

An alternative method is to grind the disc out of aluminum from a drawing and then do the blacking.

This is essentially a reproduction of the original disk (or not?).

Additionally:

• As of now the disk has not been tested, if you print it, please share the results.
• I can't attach the 3D model as well as the drawing to the post (the uploaded file is too large), and I won't post an intermediate version (without final testing). If you need 3D model or drawing - please contact me.
• I contacted Fujifilm, they do not have technical data, as well as disks in stock. That is, they can not provide exact dimensions, sell this disk or provide documentation for manufacturing.

Next in the plans:

• Testing the 3D model.
• Manufacturing of the disk from aluminum.
• Putting the final yellow disk in the public access.
• Start working on the red disk.
