I use my canister vacuum by Sanitaire---this thing can suck a golf ball through a garden hose, but seriously, I use a vaccum cleaner to clean dust from everything. I did use to own a Dirt Devil, but gave it to my mom, she loves it.
Well you can buy a set of assorted attachments or if you are cheap try duct tape a straw on it to improve suction. Something with a brush usually works better IMO.
You probably will think of this, but if you use a vacuum cleaner, try to the have the machine outside of the room where you are cleaning the holders, to avoid dust kickback.
Vacuum cleaners can be effective, but I use a 4" paint brush in a slightly humid darkroom to clean film holders. I wipe down the my work surface first before I start to load my film. What's a total waste of money for me is using canned air.
I asked my brother (a computer geek) for something he'd use to clean out a computer and he sent me a Metro DataVac Pro. It's more than a little bigger than I had been thinking, but it does seem to work pretty well. It's just got a short wand for controlability as far as I'm concerned. It's also very loud.
