Dimension of selenium cell for 3.5F needed

Hi all,

does anybody know the dimensions of the selenium cell built into a Rolleiflex 3.5F and where the wires are soldered on?
I'd like to try to get a replacement from Megatron, UK.
The one built into my camera works but is about one f-stop off in bright sunlight. Surprisingly it is ok in low light conditions. AFAIK there is no way to adjust the linearity of a selenium meter.

I think before I'd jump into the camera I'd compensate 1 stop and see how that works. Sometimes, more often than not, a simple repair will go awry and end up costing a good deal more.

If memory serves I believe my 3.5F meter was approximately 1 stop different from my Luna Pro CdS meter and it worked fine for the 6-7 years I had it. I think I used the average between the two meters as a fudge factor and I sure liked the results. Could be your meter is just fine and calibrated the same as my old 3.5F.

Until it's completely dead I'd apply the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" rule.

I wouldn't use the built-in meter anyway. Reflected light meter of an uncertain angle of view – it's asking for trouble! Use a hand-held incident light meter instead.

Hi,

thanks for reply. Compensating for one stop is not an option as it is not linearly off. Usually I use a handheld meter for incident light measurement. But I simply don't like having disfuctional devices and may be a built in meter may come in useful at times.
I talked to the repairsman who CLA'd my other Flex today. He has spare parts left and says he can fix it. My new one must have a CLA anyway, so it will go out the next week or the other.
