I have not but am interested in the process whether digi negatives or not. Let us know how you get on. I am interested in the work of Bruce Rae. Are there any printers you know of whose work might be of interest ?

hi roy

sorry i am a slacker ...
i used to come here more often, then life got in the way
now i am here again.
i never followed through using digital negatives ..
my printer didn't like ohp film so i didn't go further.
eventually i will use waxed paper negatives, maybe from
an ink jet or laser .. but that is down the road.
if i run across anyone who may be of interest i will send you a note

thanks !

I am using digital negatives for salt print. I use transparencies, not tried paper neg for salt.
I am not sure if regular paper can hold that much ink, it might be messy. Thicker paper might hold the ink.

Salt negatives are quite dense, hard to dry because of ink, probably you know all that.

I have high key images as well, one with gelatin problems.
In short, dig negatives work great for salt.

hi herzeleid

while i haven't been making salt prints with paper negatives
i have been making cyanotypes instead .. ( much cheaper seeing i am usually short of $$ )
what i have done is with a image file i go to a copyshop
and get inverted prints made on xerox paper. i'd do this chez moi
but i don't have a laser printer or a ink that is particularly fond of not being dry.
i then wax the paper with paraffin. i originally was going to use beeswax to do this, but i had paraffin
from other image making projects so i just started using parafin. i heat up the image and the wax
and rub and smear with towel, and again, and again to even it out. then i turn it over and continue on
the 2nd side. i have done this with charcoal + ink rubbings and it works well with that media as well.
it takes a little time for the sun to penetrate the paper but i get very nice cyanotypes.
while i have the materials to make salt prints and eventually calotypes, i haven't been able to shake "the blues" ..
i'm planning on running out of traditional film this year or a year from now so making photographs this way
( digital negatives ) will probably be my method of choice ...
thanks for your reply !
