Why do few digital cameras have GPS built in? Even small, cheap, smartphones have it, so I don't think it can be space or cost. I have the external unit attached to my Nikon Df but it's a rather clumsy arrangement, and the connecting cable gets in the way. It seems to be an obvious thing to build into a camera.

fwiw my Pentax k70 has built in GPS. I see no need for that, but the tech is evidently so easy that the reason for its presence is simply "why not?"

The Olympus OM-D E-M1x has GPS built-in. It's a few years old, now.

So I was disappointed to find that the new flagship, the OM-1, does not have it built in. Instead, it has this clunky app you run on a smart phone. I don't have a smart phone. I don't want a smart phone. I just want GPS built-in to a $2,200 camera!
