Hi everyone, I've just drifted across here from APUG. I was wondering whether you could give me some knowledge about printing first time digital negs for platinum/palladium. I've bought the necessary stuff from bostick and sullivan including some pictorio ohp film. When it comes to printing the negs in college I have two choices, an Epson 4800 and an Epson 9800. In my 'digital negatives' book it only describes using an Epson 2200 printer. What results can I expect to get with the other two I've mentioned. Thanks alot!

Both the 4800 and 9800 will work. Hope this answers your question.

Both printers should work fine, but you'll need different curves than for the 2200. I'd use the Photo Black rather than the Matte Black if possible. You could check if there's a curve on-line somewhere related to the book you are using, or modify the ones you have by trial and error. Best plan is probably to go to Mark Nelson's Precision Digital Negatives system - which is a fairly user friendly and reasonably priced way to get a decent result. Mark also runs a user group on line and is good at answering questions: Dead Link Removed

Good luck,

Ben

Thanks Ben, is the precision digital neg system an online resource you pay for or an actual book? Sounds good
