Just started playing with a new to me Besesler computerized dichro head 45.
In the pile of stuff are two extra diffusion chambers with different sized outputs. 6x7 for one, the other I dont remember.

Would I benefit from swapping out the 4x5 if I only rarely shoot with anything over 645? I have a few 6x12 and 6x6 cameras but dont use them often.

having the smaller chamber gets me more light?

Do people swap them for each negative size just like lenses?

The smaller boxes will give you more light, so will shorten exposures.

They may also help you avoid some flare.

I almost never switch mine.

I have two enlargers. One (the old model with front supports) has the 6x7 mixing box and is limited to smaller formats (though I have a 4x5 mixing box for that head as well). The newer enlarger has the 4x5 mixing box, and is used for 6x9 and up.

I have to admit that when I only had the one 45S head, I left the 4x5 mixing box in 95% of the time.

In the Dust LARABOX system, going from the 4x5in box to the 6x9cm light box gains 1/3 of a stop.
In the Omega D5500 system, 6x9cm negatives have to be printed on the 5x5in box. Going from the 5x5in box to the 7x7cm box gains 1 stop.
