Is there a wide variety of cable release designs? I have a bunch of different ones the ends of which all look more or less the same to me, but I notice only a few of them will fire the Prontor shutters I have from an MP-3 kit. Does anyone know if these shutters require a special release or if there is some other variable I have missed?

I would suspect it comes down to how far the plunger pin extends when depress, as far as I know virtually all of the thread patterns are the same for decades now, but I do know that certain shutters require a longer throw pin to release them.

I measured it- you are exactly right. I guess I will have to take the shutter with me when I go shopping for a new release.
