I've been in Kenya and Tanzania for two weeks shooting mostly 120 portra 400 Fuji pro400 ektar100 and velvia 50(a couple years expired)

Been keeping the film shaded and cool but the other day I got on a bus and put my film bag on the floor to guard it from the sun and fell asleep. Two hours later maybe less we arrive and I realize the bag and the film inside is very very very warm. Like...40-50degrees celsius warm. It was very warm in my hand. Not hot, but enough for me to be alarmed! Is my film ruined? I've traveled many times with film in extremely hot climates and been forced to leave it in hot cars before with no effects but I feel like this time it was way warmer than before but at least only for an hour and a half to two hours ...I guess keeping in mind it took the car about 15minutes to get that hot in the first place. The bag it was in shielded it somewhat.

Maybe less than 40degrees. It was like half the temperature of a hot cup of coffee. It wasnt as hot as a hot shower even nearly. It was very warm.

Sometimes things like that are unavoidable. Get it processed as soon as you can, and hope for the best. Most likely things will be fine.

I couple years ago I read a report were various (color, BxW, transparency) rolls of film were subjected to different temperatures for various amounts of time. I can't find the article but I came a away with the realization that film is most more hardy and resistant to heat than I thought. The other points I remember was store in original packs until shooting and return to plastic cans (35mm) or similar for larger sizes. Also fresh film withstands heat than out of date film. It takes a lot of heat (100 degrees F) for a long times (days) to really cause troubles. You are OK.

Welcome to APUG

Probably not for a one time event. You will only know when you process the film.

Thank you for reassuring me! Most of the film was brand spanking new and always kept cool. So probably two hours ain't bad...At least probably not so bad it can't be corrected.

The only time I've actually seen heat damage to film was a roll that was left in a camera, in a locked-up car, for several hot summer days.
