Or do everybody have all the 8x10 film holders they need, and finally I can begin to stockpile at $25 a holder

cheap 8x10 holders

Sure, they are used, but I have at least two that looks just as bad, and they`re still light tight....

Ooops!

No - I've stayed away from ebay the past month. Most of the time. At least the RLF (Real Large Format) stuff.
At least I don't bid.

Much.

I've hardly bid on a single lens this week!

But oddly enough, I have all the 8x10" film holders I need. And the 18x24cm holders. And 13x18cm and 5x7". And 9x12cm and 4x5". And even 24x30cm. But I could use another 30x40cm holder...

Wasn`t you going to sell that 30x40cm beast Ole? Found a modern lens for the Carbon yet?

Yes, and yes. And I've sold the Linhof Color too!

I have found that ebay tends to have buy and sell cycles.

I was looking for a polaroid back a while ago, there were few available, tons of bids, and I couldn't win an auction, or find one that wasn't at a price too close to a new one.

Three weeks later- lots listed, few buyers, picked one up for a song.

This is just one example of many.

Patience pays with that place.

I'll second your observation - as someone who has done a moderate amount of buying and selling on ebay, it pays to watch items for a while to get the feel of what the high and low limits that each sell for, then you can make an educated bid and not overpay because of another zealous bidder. You may lose a few auctions that way, but for common items that continually get listed it definitely pays to have patience.

Yeah that`s true, if you`re patient you can find whatever you want at a reasonable price, unless you`re looking for some very rare stuff of course. So far I have only good experiences with eBay. I just think photographers are generally nice people
Just this morning I got an email from a seller I bought some Bronica gear from, and he informed me that the camera was shipped and he included two extra filmbacks and a bunch of film, without wanting any extra for it. How nice is that!
