I've a RZ ready to shoot. It's been inactive most
of a year. Before taking it out I'd like to exercise
the shutter. I've been through the manual looking,
with no luck, for a method of shutter release with
film in the camera. Was/is there a way I've
forgotten? Dan

Do you mean without film in the camera?

The M (multiple exposure) setting will allow that.

I should clarify:

The M setting disconnects the advance linkage to the back from the cocking/advance lever on the body.

It will also let you fire the camera without a back.

To fire the shutter with the back on the camera and film loaded without exposing the film, you can use the M setting, but the dark slide must be out, so you need to put a lens cap on.

I thought there might be some over ride available
such as a partial withdrawing of the dark slide. Perhaps
I had my RB or ETRSi in mind. No matter, the back and
lens are coming off for transport reasons. So off with
the back and test. Thanks Dan
